Launching of website and release of GMCAA songs
Official website of Gauhati Medical College Alumni Association www.gmcaa.com & www.aagmc.in have been launched and a number of songs especially written by alumni have been released in the 1st Full Executive Council Meeding of the GMCAA held on 1st August 2010 at the Auditorium of Down Town Hospitals, Guwahati.
Prof. Narendra Nath Dutta, President of GMCAA lighted the lamps as ceremonial release of the songs.
Prof. Nandita Choudhury, member, advisory council of GMCAA launched the website.
The meeting was well-attended by alumni starting from 1st batch (1960) to the latest batch. Senior alumni like Dr. Nareswar Dutta, Prof. Jogesh Das, Prof. Khagendra Narayan Barua, Dr. Jibon Chandra Dutta Baruah, Dr. Pratap Chandra Sarmah, Dr. Ambica Prasad, Prof. Kabul Chandra Saikia, Prof. Hemendra Ram Phookun, Prof. Gokul Chandra Das have shown keen interests in activities of GMCAA and have participated in the lively discussions.
The house profusely thanked Dr. Deepika Deka an alumnus and Professor of O&G, AIIMS for her unique gesture for initiating Best Graduate of the year and Best Post-graduate (O&G) awards from this year under the banner of GMCAA. A sum of Rupees One Lakh has been offered by Dr. Deka for running the awards.
The house accepted the proposal of naming newly constructed auditorium in the GMCH premises after Prof. (Late) Surendra Nath Sarma Founder Principal GMC and Road from G.S. Road point at Bhangagarh to the Gauhati Medical College after Prof. (Late) I. Jahan Founder Prof.-in- charge.
Composition of songs and its tunes have been highly appreciated by all.
