Dr. Panchami Baruah, an alumnus of GMC Batch 1971 has passed away on the evening of 2nd March 2012 at their Guwahati residence at House No. 7, Bye-lane No. 5, Lachit Nagar.
Born on 19 January 1954, she had completed her MBBS graduation from GMC and then completed her PG (DA and MD in Anaesthesiology). She then joined GMC as a Registrar in Anaesthesiology Department and was elevated to the post of Associate Professor.
Known as a very polite and well-behaved lady, she got married to another alumnus of GMC batch 1969, Prof. Gokul Ch. Das, the present HOD of the Department of O & G, GMC. They have been tied up in nuptial bond on the 4th October of 1981.
Panchami and Gokul are blessed with two brilliant sons; Kaushik the elder one is working in the United States of America and Ujjal the younger is studying at Bangalore.
Mortal remains of Panchami turned into flames at around 5 p.m. at the Nabagraha Crematorium on 4 March 2012 SUNDAY.Her funeral ceremony was attended by large number of family members and relatives, friends and members of doctors' fraternity.
